I was asked to design an icon that could be used as a personal identification mark.
Being that the person in question is a lawyer and a member of social groups such as the Lion’s Club, the design needed to be prestigious but also project a sense of their easy-going, personable nature.
There was also the constraint that the design would be being applied to a range of different materials requiring different techniques over time.
My solution was a lion’s head that had an attitude somewhere between friendly and fierce. This face is centred and surrounded by the animal’s mane rendered in a simplistic style that also recalls the form of a traditional wax seal.
The current itinery of items is a letterpress calling card, stamped leather key-ring, and an embosssed leather hip-flask sleeve.
