This street art series uses prepared table tennis balls to create cartoon-style eyeballs that can then be applied to found objects and street furniture to create characters.
I came up with this project concept almost exactly at the same time as a trend in street art emerged. So-called #eyebombing became something of an internet/social media sensation and entered the public sphere although, generally, people that indulge in creating these artworks use so-called ‘Googley Eyes,’ of the type that you see on greetings cards or fairground prizes.
It was a very happy coincidence to be part of the zeitgeist of an urban interventionalist sub-movement, even happier was I that my take on it was slightly different but, judging by the feedback that I received, just as effective.
